A failed levy means $2.9M in budget cuts. Listed below is what we stand to lose if we face another MVSD budget deficit. The MVSD School Board created this list for the ballot and submitted it to the county clerk after the 3/11/24 meeting, to be honest and transparent with voters about exactly what the levy buys them.

When the last four levies failed, the School Board used reserves (from Forest Funds) and unexpected federal funds (Covid Funds) to cover the deficits. The reserves are depleted. To continue providing our students with education and opportunities at the current standard, passing this levy is our only option. The Board conducted four public budget meetings prior to the March 11, 2024 board meeting to thoroughly research what could legally and realistically be cut in the event of a failed levy. Their exhaustive findings resulted in the list you’ll see on your ballot.
View the Facebook live event below from District 244 School Board Chairman Tyler Harrington and Carly Behler from the District Office. discussing what items will be cut this fall should the levy not pass.
